The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Rob Anders, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Ron Cannan, Hon. Albina Guarnieri, Betty Hinton, Gilles-A. Perron, Todd Norman Russell, Bev Shipley, Brent St. Denis, Peter Stoffer, David Sweet and Roger Valley.

 

Acting Members present: Robert Bouchard for Roger Gaudet.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michel Rossignol, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Helen Gough, Occupational Therapist and military spouse.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) the Committee resumed its study of Veterans Health Care Review and Veterans Independence Program.
 

Helen Gough made a statement and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee undertake a Study of the Comparison of Veterans Services offered by Members of the Commonwealth and the G8.

 

It was agreed, — That the following witnesses:

United Kingdom: Derek Twigg, Minister for Veterans;

United States: Hon. James B. Peake, Secretary of Veterans Affairs;

Australia: Hon. Alan Griffin, Minister of Veterans Affairs; and

New Zealand, Hon. Rick Barker, Minister of Veterans Affairs

be invited to appear in relation to the Comparison Study of Veterans Services Offered by Members of Commonwealth and G8.

 

At 5:08 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
