The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 10:58 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: André Arthur, Colin Carrie, Paul Crête, Hon. Joe Fontana, Hon. Jean C. Lapierre, Brian Masse, Hon. Dan McTeague, James Rajotte, Bev Shipley, Dave Van Kesteren and Robert Vincent.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lalita Acharya, Analyst; Dan Shaw, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Industry: Sara Filbee, Director General, Manufacturing Industries Branch; Renée St-Jacques, Chief Economist and Director General, Micro-Economic Policy Analysis Branch; Robert Lamy, Coordinator, Economic Analysis, Micro-Economic Policy Analysis Branch. Department of Human Resources and Social Development: Martin Green, Acting Director General, Program Policy Planning and Analysis; Cliff Halliwell, Director General, Policy Research and Coordination Directorate; Eric Parisien, Director, Sector Council Program Division. Department of Natural Resources: Howard E. Brown, Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy Policy Sector; Margaret McCuaig-Johnston, Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy Technology and Programs Sector. Canadian Tourism Commission: Michele McKenzie, President and Chief Executive Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of Challenges Facing the Canadian Manufacturing Sector.
 

Renée St-Jacques, Martin Green, Howard E. Brown and Michele McKenzie made statements and, with Sara Filbee, Robert Lamy, Cliff Halliwell, Eric Parisien and Margaret McCuaig-Johnston, answered questions.

 

At 1:07 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
