The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met by videoconference at 3:37 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Patrick Brown, Ruby Dhalla, Hon. Ken Dryden, Mike Lake, Yves Lessard, Tony Martin, Michael Savage, Mario Silva and Lynne Yelich.

 

Acting Members present: Carole Lavallée for France Bonsant and Mike Wallace for Russ Hiebert.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr, Analyst. House of Commons: Graeme Truelove, Committee Clerk.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, October 25, 2006, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-257, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (replacement workers).
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Tony Martin moved, — That the Chair present the following Report to the House:

That the new Minister of Human Resources and Social Development re-examine and provide a comprehensive response to each recommendation of the First Report of the Committee entitled “Summer Career Placement Program” which concerned matters raised in the Tenth Report of the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and Status of Persons with Disabilities in the First Session of the Thirty-Eighth Parliament entitled “Summer Career Placement Program”,

That the Government implement the Committee’s unanimous recommendations in time for the 2007 Summer Career Placement Program,

And that pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the Report.

Debate arose thereon.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 7; NAYS: 0.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
