The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 10:17 a.m. this day, in the York Hall - Main Floor, Holiday Inn Toronto Yorkdale, Toronto, Ontario, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, France Bonsant, Jean-Claude D'Amours and Tony Martin.

 

Acting Members present: Harold Albrecht for Brian Storseth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canada's Association for the Fifty-Plus: Judy Cutler, Director, Government and Media Relations; William Gleberzon, Director, Government Relations. Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives (KAIROS): Jennifer Devries, Program Coordinator, Refugees and Migration; Cecilia Diocson, Executive Director, National Alliance of Philippine Women in Canada; Francisco Rico-Martinez, Co-Director, FCJ Refugee Centre; Veena Verma, Barrister & Solicitor, Cavalluzzo Hayes Shilton McIntyre & Cornish LLP. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, May 11, 2006, the Committee resumed its study of Employability in Canada.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
