The Standing Committee on Finance met at 11:01 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Brian Pallister, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Paul Crête, Dean Del Mastro, Rick Dykstra, Hon. John McCallum, Hon. John McKay, Massimo Pacetti, Brian Pallister, Thierry St-Cyr, Hon. Robert Thibault, Mike Wallace and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Laurin, Analyst.

Witnesses: Coalition of Canadian Energy Trusts: John Dielwart, Chief Executive Officer, ARC Energy Trust. As an individual: Paul Hobson, Professor, Department of Economics, Acadia University. Assembly of First Nations: Richard Jock, Chief Executive Officer. As an individual: James G. Morand, Partner, McCarthy Tétrault S.E.N.C.R.L., s.r.l. . Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers' Association: Mark A. Nantais, President. As an individual: Dianne Urquhart, Independent Consulting Analyst. David Suzuki Foundation: Bill Wareham, Acting Director. Living Oceans Society: Kate Willis, Campaign Manager, Marine Planning and Protected Areas Campaign Manager. Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, May 15, 2007, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-52, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 19, 2007.

John Dielwart, Bill Wareham, Kate Willis, Mark A. Nantais and Paul Hobson made statements and answered questions.

At 12:26 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:40 p.m., the sitting resumed.

At 2:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
