The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Brian Pallister, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Dean Del Mastro, Rick Dykstra, Hon. John McCallum, Hon. John McKay, Massimo Pacetti, Brian Pallister, Pierre A. Paquette, Michael Savage, Thierry St-Cyr and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

 

Acting Members present: Rod Bruinooge for Mike Wallace, David Christopherson for Judy Wasylycia-Leis and Bradley R. Trost for Dean Del Mastro.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Laurin, Analyst; June Dewetering, Principal. Standing Committee on Finance: Shaila Anwar, Co-Clerk of the Committee.

Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations 2006.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

On motion of John McCallum, it was agreed, — That, in the next 45 days the members of the Standing Committee on Finance hold one (1) hearing to study the implications of the Notice of Ways and Means Motion tabled by the Minister of Finance on 25 September, 2006 concerning amendments to the excise tax act, specifically the elimination of the visitors GST rebate program.

 

At 5:41 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
