The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in a televised session at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Tom Wappel, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sukh Dhaliwal, Carole Lavallée, Pat Martin, Glen Douglas Pearson, Bruce Stanton, David Tilson, Dave Van Kesteren, Robert Vincent, Mike Wallace and Tom Wappel.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas, Analyst; Nancy Holmes, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Leonard J. Edwards, Deputy Minister; Gary Switzer, ATIP Consultant, Access to Information and Privacy Protection Division; Francine Archambault, Senior ATIP Analyst, Access to Information and Privacy Protection Division; Jennifer Nixon, ATIP Team Leader, Access to Information and Privacy Protection Division; Gwyn Kutz, Director, Human Rights, Gender Equality, Health and Population Division.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on May 10, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of Access to Information request for the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade internal report entitled "Afghanistan 2006: Good Governance, Democratic Development and Human Rights".
 

Leonard J. Edwards made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 11:23 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:32 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

At 11:33 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:34 a.m., sitting resumed in public session.

 

Gwen Kutz, Jennifer Nixon, Francine Archambault and Gary Switzer made statements and answered questions.

 

At 1:09 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
