The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in a televised session at 9:01 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Tom Wappel, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sukh Dhaliwal, Carole Lavallée, Pat Martin, Glen Douglas Pearson, Hon. Jim Peterson, Scott Reid, Bruce Stanton, Dave Van Kesteren, Mike Wallace and Tom Wappel.

 

Acting Members present: Barry Devolin for David Tilson and Jean-Yves Roy for Robert Vincent.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nancy Holmes, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada: Robert Marleau, Information Commissioner; Daniel Brunet, Director, Legal Services. House of Commons: Rob Walsh, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on May 10, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of Access to Information request for the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade internal report entitled "Afghanistan 2006: Good Governance, Democratic Development and Human Rights".
 

Rob Walsh made a statement and, with Robert Marleau and Daniel Brunet, answered questions.

 

At 10:37 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:39 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

At 10:40 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:41 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That the officials from the Department of Justice and Treasury Board Secretariat be invited to appear before the Committee.

 

It was agreed, — That a meeting be called to discuss future witnesses.

 

At 11:01 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
