The Legislative Committee on Bill C-30 met in a televised videoconference teleconference session at 5:37 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Laurie Hawn, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Bernard Bigras, Nathan Cullen, Hon. John Godfrey, Laurie Hawn, Brian Jean, Marcel Lussier, Fabian Manning, David J. McGuinty, Hon. Christian Paradis, Francis Scarpaleggia, Mark Warawa and Jeff Watson.

 

Other Members present: Dennis Bevington.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tim Williams, Analyst; Sam Banks, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: University of Toronto: Richard Peltier, Department of Physics. UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change: John Stone, Member, Adjunct Professor at Carleton University. University of Victoria: Andrew Weaver, School of Earth and Ocean Sciences.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, December 4, 2006, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-30, An Act to amend the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, the Energy Efficiency Act and the Motor Vehicle Fuel Consumption Standards Act (Canada's Clean Air Act).
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Nathan Cullen moved, — That the witnesses scheduled to be heard on Thursday, March 1, 2007 be heard from 7:30 to 9:30 pm on Monday, February 26, 2007.

Debate arose thereon.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 1; NAYS: 10.

 

At 7:17 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
