The Standing Committee on Transport met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 371 West Block, the Chair, Roger Gallaway, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dave Batters, Raymond Bonin, Robert Carrier, Bev Desjarlais, Hon. Roger Gallaway, Jim Gouk, Hon. Jim Karygiannis, Hon. Rob Nicholson, Francis Scarpaleggia, Andrew Scheer and Caroline St-Hilaire.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Industry: Mireille-France Blanchard, Sr Legal Policy Analyst, Corporate and Insolvency Law Policy. Department of Justice: Natalie Giassa, Counsel, International Private Law Section. Department of Transport: Nada Vrany, Director, National Air Services Policy. Department of Finance: James Wu, Senior Project Leader, Competition Issues and Transactions. Department of Justice: Gilles Lauzon, General Counsel, International Aviation Law Secretariat.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

On motion of Jim Gouk, it was agreed, — That whenever the Main Estimates or Supplementary Estimates are referred to the Committee, the Committee invite the Minister and any relevant Senior Officials of a Department to appear at a meeting of the Committee and, if possible, that it be televised.

That whenever a Chapter of a Report of the Auditor General refers to a subject under the mandate of the Committee, the Committee study the matter and invite officials of the Office of the Auditor General of Canada and any relevant Senior officials of a Department to appear at a meeting of the Committee and, if possible, that it be televised.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, October 19, 2004, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-4, An Act to implement the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and the Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters Specific to Aircraft Equipment.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
