The Subcommittee on Solicitation Laws of the Standing Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness met at 5:40 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, for the purpose of electing a Chair, pursuant to Standing Order 106(1).

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Paule Brunelle, Libby Davies, Hon. Hedy Fry, Art Hanger and John Maloney.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lyne Casavant, Analyst; Laura Barnett, Analyst.

 
The Clerk of the Subcommittee presided over the election of a Chair.
 

On motion of Hedy Fry, it was agreed, — That John Maloney be elected Chair of the Subcommittee.

 

The Clerk of the Subcommittee presided over the election of the Vice-Chair.

 

On motion of Hedy Fry, it was agreed, — That Libby Davies be elected as Opposition Vice-Chair of the Subcommittee.

 

Libby Davies took the Chair.

 

At 5:45 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 5:46 p.m., the Subcommittee resumed sitting in camera.

 

The Subcommittee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the recommendations of the report by the Subcommittee on Solicitation Laws be placed together at the very end of the report and that the Subcommittee first study the body of the report and then the recommendations after reviewing the entire body of the report.

 

At 6:28 p.m., John Maloney took the Chair.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee meet on Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

 

At 7:48 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
