The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in a televised session at 9:09 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Alain Boire, Gary Carr, David Christopherson, Brian Fitzpatrick, Mark Holland, Daryl Kramp, Hon. Walt Lastewka, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Benoît Sauvageau, John Williams and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

Acting Members present: Barry Devolin for Dean Allison.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal, Analyst; Marc-André Pigeon, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Nancy Cheng, Assistant Auditor General. Department of Natural Resources: Frank Des Rosiers, Director General, Strategic Policy Branch; Richard B. Fadden, Deputy Minister. Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Sheila Fraser, Auditor General of Canada; Crystal Pace, Principal. Department of Natural Resources: Richard Tobin, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Management Sector.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 1, Natural Resources Canada - Governance and Strategic Management of the April 2005 Report of the Auditor General of Canada referred to the Committee on April 5, 2005.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

Benoît Sauvageau moved, — That pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g) and the Public Accounts of Canada, the Standing Committee on Public Accounts request the government table, by November 30th, 2005, with the Committee copies of all internal and external audits (including forensic audits) pertaining to the administration of the Internationaux du sport de Montréal and to the organizing committee of the XI CHAMPIONNATS DU MONDE FINA -- MONTRÉAL 2005. .

Debate arose thereon.

 

At 11:05 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
