The Standing Committee on Industry, Natural Resources, Science and Technology met in camera at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 308 West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Serge Cardin, Michael Chong, Hon. Denis Coderre, Paul Crête, Brian Masse, Lynn Myers, Hon. Jerry Pickard, Andy Savoy, Werner Schmidt, Brent St. Denis and Bradley R. Trost.

 

Acting Members present: James Rajotte for John Duncan.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That Industry Canada, any other involved departments, if any, and the auditors appear before the Industry Committee for the purposes of discussing Technology Partnerships Canada (TPC), past investigations and their current investigation of this program.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee will examine the role of lobbyists in the allocation of funds from Technology Partnerships Canada (TPC).

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister responsible for the Canada Border Services Agency to discuss issues of competition in CBSA policy, rationale and practices of payment and provisions of CBSA services.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee call on a representative from Transport Canada to discuss issues of competition in relation to per passenger fee rates set for float plane or marine carriers empowered under the Canada Marine Act which allow for a fee schedule to be imposed by Port Authorities.

 

It was agreed, — That the two motions on issues of competition in relation to the Canada Border Services Agency and Transport Canada previously adopted at this meeting be placed on the agenda for the first Committee business meeting in the fall.

 

At 5:23 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
