Meeting No. 26

Tuesday, April 5, 2005

The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met by videoconference at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 701 La Promenade Building, the Chair, Raymonde Folco, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Peter Adams, Eleni Bakopanos, Barry Devolin, Raymonde Folco, Paul Forseth, Christiane Gagnon, Tony Martin and Peter Van Loan.

Acting Members present: France Bonsant for Yves Lessard.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst ; Kevin Kerr, Analyst.

Witnesses: New Westminster Community Development Society : Vicki Austad, Executive Director. Chambre de commerce et d'industrie Thérèse-De-Blainville: Annie Bélanger, Director General; Rosalie Clément-Jolette, Project Coordinator. Pathways Skill Development & Placement Centre: Paul Hubert, Executive Director; Anne Langille. Ontario Association of Youth Employment Centres: Matt Wood, Executive Director.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on February 24, 2005, the Committee resumed its study of the New Human Resources and Skills Development Canada call for proposals Criteria for Funding Community Programs.

On motion of Peter Adams, it was agreed, — That the letter sent to Mr. David Carter-Whitney from Mr. Gary Malkowski regarding his March 24th, 2005, testimony be appended to the minutes of evidence of the April 5th, 2005, meeting.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 12:47 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:50 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

It was agreed, — That April 12th, 2005, the Committee invite an Official from the Department of Human Resources and Skills Development, the Canadian Employment and Immigration Union, Gateway Café and the Ontario March of Dimes.

At 1:12 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
