The Standing Committee on Health met at 9:09 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Colin Carrie, Jean Crowder, Ruby Dhalla, Steven John Fletcher, Marcel Gagnon, James Lunney, Réal Ménard, Rob Merrifield, Michael John Savage and Hon. Robert Thibault.

 

Acting Members present: Nicole Demers for Marcel Gagnon.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst; Sonya Norris, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Health: Bill Maga, Director, Assisted Human Reproduction Implementation Office, Health Policy Branch; Francine Manseau, Manager, Policy Development Group, Assisted Human Reproduction Implementation Office, Health Policy Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, November 2, 2005, the Committee commenced its study on Prescription Drugs.
 

On motion of Colin Carrie, it was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $ 39,900.00, for the study on Prescription Drugs, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee not travel at the present time, as part of its study on Prescription Drugs.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, May 19, 2005, the Committee resumed its study on silicone gel-filled breast implants.
 

It was agreed, — That the Chair write a letter to the Minister of Health requesting that he urgently provide the Committee with examples of the confidentiality agreement and the conflict of interest documents presented to members of the Scientific Advisory Panel and the Expert Advisory Panel on breast implants, for their consideration and signature.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the status of the regulations for the Assisted Human Reproduction Act.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:58 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
