The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 536 Wellington Building, the Chair, Tom Wappel, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Raynald Blais, John Cummins, Rodger Cuzner, Loyola Hearn, Randy Kamp, Bill Matthews, Shawn Murphy, Jean-Yves Roy, Scott Simms, Peter Stoffer and Tom Wappel.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: François Côté, Analyst; Alan Nixon, Principal.

 

Witnesses: Department of Fisheries and Oceans: John Adams, Commissioner, Canadian Coast Guard; Kevin Stringer, Director General, Resource Management Directorate; Wendy Watson-Wright, Assistant Deputy Minister, Science; George Da Pont, Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources and Corporate Services; Paul Cuillerier, Director General, Conservation and Protection Directorate.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee hold an in camera meeting on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 on matters related to Committee business.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2005-2006: Votes 1, 5 and 10 under Fisheries and Oceans referred to the Committee on February 25, 2005.
 

The Chair called Vote 1 under Fisheries and Oceans.

 

George DaPont made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 12:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
