The Standing Committee on Finance met at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 269 West Block, the Vice-Chair, Charlie Penson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rona Ambrose, Don H. Bell, Guy Côté, Charles Hubbard, Hon. John McKay, Massimo Pacetti, Charlie Penson, Monte Solberg and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

 

Acting Members present: Robert Bouchard for Yvan Loubier, Susan Kadis for Hon. Maria Minna and Larry Miller for Brian Pallister.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Laurin, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canada Customs and Revenue Agency: Michel Dorais, Commissioner; Jim Ralston, Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Commissioner, Finance and Administration Branch; John Kowalski, Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Compliance Programs Branch; Ed Gauthier, Acting Assistant Commissioner, Policy and Legislation Branch; Barbara Slater, Assistant Commissioner, Assessment and Client Services Branch; Guy Proulx, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue Collections Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2005-2006: Vote 1 and 5 under CANADA CUSTOMS AND REVENUE AGENCY referred to the Committee on Friday, February 25, 2005.
 

Michel Dorais made a statement and, with Jim Ralston, John Kowalski, Ed Gauthier, Barbara Slater and Guy Proulx, answered questions.

 

By unanimous consent, the Chair called Votes 1 and 5 under CANADA CUSTOMS AND REVENUE AGENCY refered to the Committee on Friday, February 25, 2005.

 

Vote 1 under CANADA CUSTOMS AND REVENUE AGENCY, less the amount voted in interim supply, agreed to on division.

Vote 5 under CANADA CUSTOMS AND REVENUE AGENCY, less the amount voted in interim supply, agreed to on division.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2005-2006: Vote 25 under FINANCE referred to the Committee on Friday, February 25, 2005.
 

By unanimous consent, the Chair called Vote 25 under FINANCE refered to the Committee on Friday, February 25, 2005.

 

Vote 25 under Finance, less the amount voted in interim supply, agreed to on division.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Votes 1 and 5, less the amounts voted in Interim Supply, under CANADA CUSTOMS AND REVENUE AGENCY and to report Vote 25, less the amounts voted in Interim Supply, under FINANCE to the House.

 

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee Business.

 

It was agreed, — That the budget for the four consultants on the Federal Fiscal Forecasting be approved.

 

At 12:51 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
