The Standing Committee on Finance met at 11:57 a.m. this day, at the Intercontinental Hotel, Willard Room, Toronto, Ontario, the Chair, Massimo Pacetti, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Yvan Loubier, Hon. Maria Minna, Massimo Pacetti, Charlie Penson and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Principal; Alexandre Laurin, Analyst. Standing Committee on Finance: Richard Dupuis, Clerk of the Committee.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Federation of University Women: Margaret McGovern, Director, Status of Women and Human Rights. Citizens for Public Justice: Greg deGroot-Maggetti, Analyst, Socio-Economic Policy; Chris Pullenayegem, Analyst, Refugee Issues Policy. Hands Off! Legal Aid Ontario: Janet Leiper, Chair; George Biggar, Vice-President, Policy, Planning and External Relations. Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care : Kira Heineck, Executive Director. Watson Wyatt Worldwide: Laura Samaroo, Pension Consultant; Keith Horner, Consultant; Ian Markham, Director, Pension Innovation.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations 2005.
 

Margaret McGovern, Greg deGroot-Maggetti, Sandy Shaw, Beverly Halls, Susan Pigott, David Pecaut, Janet Leiper, Kira Heineck, Laura Samaroo and Keith Horner made statements and answered questions.

 

At 1:23 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
