The Standing Committee on Finance met at 8:34 a.m. this day, at the Winnipeg Convention Centre, Pan Am Room, Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Chair, Massimo Pacetti, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Massimo Pacetti and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

 

Acting Members present: Robert Bouchard for Guy Côté, Steven John Fletcher for Charlie Penson, Mark Holland for Don H. Bell and Joy Smith for Rona Ambrose.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Principal; Sheena Starky, Analyst. Standing Committee on Finance: Christine Lafrance, Clerk of the Committee.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators: Suzanne Brunette, President; Judy Dyck, Past President. Canadian Federation of Students - Manitoba Component: Mathew Gagné, Provincial Chairperson; Amanda Aziz, Manitoba National Executive Representative. Manitoba Association of School Trustees: Ruth Ann Furgala, President; Carolyn Duhamel, Executive Director. ACTRA (Manitoba): Sharon Bajer, President. Manitoba Opera: Larry Desrochers, General Director and CEO. Magazines Canada: Mark Jamison, Chief Executive Officer; Michelle Kuly, Acting President. Canadian Booksellers Association: Paul McNally, President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations 2005.
 

Suzanne Brunette, Mathew Gagné, Amanda Aziz, Ruth Ann Furgala, Sharon Bajer, Larry Desrochers, Mark Jamison, Michelle Kuly and Paul McNally made statements and, with Judy Dyck and Carolyn Duhamel, answered questions.

 

At 10:06 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
