The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 701 La Promenade Building, the Chair, Bernard Patry, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stockwell Day, Francine Lalonde, Lawrence MacAulay, Alexa McDonough, Dan McTeague, Ted Menzies, Bernard Patry and Kevin Sorenson.

 

Acting Members present: Diane Bourgeois for Pierre A. Paquette and Peter Goldring for Belinda Stronach.

 

Associate Members present: Don Boudria and Denis Coderre.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Lee, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian International Development Agency: Guillermo Rishchynski, Vice-President, Americas Branch; Catherine Bragg, Director General,Humanitarian Assistance, Peace and Security Multilateral Programs Branch; Yves Pétillon, Director, Haiti, Cuba and Dominican Republic Americas Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on October 20, 2004, the Committee commenced its study of International Policy (Humanitarian Situation in Haiti and the Caribbean).
 

Guillermo Rishchynski and Kathryn Bragg made statements and, with Yves Pétillon, answered questions.

 

At 5:07 p.m. the Committee proceeded to discuss its future business

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to the Order of October 20, 2004 concerning a meeting with a delegation from the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany on November 3, 2004, the Committee sit jointly with the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs.

 

At 5:15 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
