The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 11:07 a.m. this day, in Room 308 West Block, the Chair, Andrew Telegdi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, David A. Anderson, Colleen Beaumier, Roger Clavet, Meili Faille, Hedy Fry, Rahim Jaffer, Inky Mark, Bill Siksay, Andrew Telegdi and Lui Temelkovski.

 

Other Members present: Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, the Committee resumed its study on Citizenship Issues.
 

Inky Mark moved, — That the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration request the Auditor General of Canada to conduct a full examination of procedures regarding the granting of Temporary Resident Permits by the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration and to report her findings to parliament in the appropriate manner..

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

 

Bill Siksay moved, — That the Chair be authorized to release the Committee's Report and recommandations to the Minister and that the Chair and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

At 11:45 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:48 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 1:07 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
