The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 8:40 a.m. this day, in the Wascana Ballroom, Regina Inn, Regina, Saskatchewan, the Chair, Andrew Telegdi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. David A. Anderson, Roger Clavet, Rahim Jaffer, Inky Mark, Bill Siksay, Andrew Telegdi and Lui Temelkovski.

 

Associate Members present: Nina Grewal.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Ukrainian Canadian Congress - Saskatchewan Provincial Council: Edward Lysyk, Vice-President; Tony Harras, Standing Committee on Immigration; Danylo Puderak, Executive Director. Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly: Pat Atkinson, Minister of Immigration, Standing Committee Immigration, Province of Saskatchewan; Al Hilton, Associate Deputy Minister, Government Relations; Giovanna Pirro, Settlement and Integration Officer, Saskatchewan Immigration Branch. Saskatchewan Intercultural Association: Kebrom Haimanot, Member, Board of Directors. Regina Open Door Society Inc.: Jack Arends, Transition-to-Work Facilitator, Department of Political Studies.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 the Committee resumed its study on Citizenship Issues.
 

Edward Lysyk made a statement and, with Tony Harras and Danylo Puderak answered questions.

 

At 9:12 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:16 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, the Committee resumed its study of Recognition of the International Experience and Credentials of Immigrants.
 

Pat Atkinson, Saskatchewan Minister of Immigration made a statement and, with Giovanna Pino answered questions.

 

At 10:15 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:25 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Kebrom Haimanot made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 10:57 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
