The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 209 West Block, the Chair, Charles L.Caccia, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rex Barnes, Bernard Bigras, Charles L. Caccia, Joe Comartin, Charles Hubbard, Serge Marcil, Bob Mills, Anita Neville and Julian Reed.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Natural Resources: Neil MacLeod, Director General, Office of Energy Efficiency, Energy Sector; Barbara Mullally Pauly, Senior Chief, Housing Programs, Office of Energy Efficiency.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol.
 

Neil MacLeod made an opening statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

 

On motion of Bob Mills, it was agreed, — That whenever the Main Estimates or the Supplementary Estimates are tabled in the House, the Committee invite the Minister and any relevant Senior Officials of the Department of Environment to appear at a televised meeting, if possible, of the Committee.

 

On motion of Bob Mills, it was agreed, — That whenever a Chapter of a Report of the Auditor General refers to a subject under the mandate of the Committee, the Committee invite the Office of the Auditor General of Canada and any relevant Senior Officials of a Department to appear at a televised meeting, if possible, of the Committee.

 

On motion of Bob Mills, it was agreed, — That Mr. Gilbert Parent, Ambassador for the Environment, be invited to appear before the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development at the earliest mutually convenient time.

 

At 4:51 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
