The Standing Committee on Transport met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 307 West Block, the chair, Joe Comuzzi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rex Barnes, John Cannis, Joe Comuzzi, Bev Desjarlais, Roger Gallaway, Jim Gouk, Stan Keyes, Mario Laframboise, James Moore, Marcel Proulx and Lynne Yelich.

 

Witnesses: Department of Human Resources Development: Francine Blouin Wilkinson, Acting Director, Policy and Legislation Development - Insurance Branch. Department of Transport: Michel Gaudreau, Director, Commercial and Business Aviation; Susan Greene, Chief, Cabin Safety Standards. Department of Human Resources Development: Gordon McFee, Acting Director General, Insurance Policy. Canada Customs and Revenue Agency: Roderick G. Quiney, Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Assessment and Collections Branch; Paul Remillard, Director, CPP/EI Eligibility Division, Revenue Collections Directorate, Assessment and Collections Branch. Canadian Union of Public Employees: Terry Twentyman, President, Airline Division.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study on Flights Attendants Employment Insurance Crisis.
 

Gordon McFee made an opening statement and answered questions.

 

Roderick G. Quiney made an opening statement and answered questions.

 

Michel Gaudreau made an opening statement and answered questions.

 

Paul Remillard answered questions.

 

Terry Twentyman answered questions.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed , that all the parties present at today's meeting hold a subsequent meeting, excluding the Members of Parliament, in order to find a workable solution to the Flights Attendants Employment Insurance Crisis and report back to the Committee through the Chair.

 

At 5:17 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
