The Sub-Committee on Human Rights and International Development of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:42 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Irwin Cotler, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Colleen Beaumier, Bill Casey, Irwin Cotler, Karen Kraft Sloan, Deepak Obhrai, Beth Phinney, Yves Rocheleau.

Other Members present: Alexa McDonough and Keith Martin

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament: James Lee and Marcus Pistor, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From Project Ploughshares: Ernie Regehr, Executive Director. From World Vision Canada: Kathy Vandergrift, Senior Policy Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of Human Rights and Development issues in Sudan. (See Minutes of Proceedings of February 26, 2003, Meeting No. 1).

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 5:17 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
