The Subcommittee on Children and Youth at Risk of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, John Godfrey, presiding.
Members of the Subcommittee present: Libby Davies, Sébastien Gagnon, John Godfrey, Anita Neville, Larry Spencer and Alan Tonks.
Acting Member present: From 3:45 p.m. Sébastien Gagnon for Monique Guay.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Julie Cool, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Statistics Canada: Doug Norris, Director General, Census and Demographic Statistics. From the Department of Health: Kelly Stone, A/Director, Division of Childhood and Adolescence, Population and Public Health Branch; Richard Budgell, Manager, Division of Childhood and Adolescence, Aboriginal Childhood and Youth, Centre for Healthy Human Development, Population and Public Health Branch; Suzette Jeannotte, Programs Coordinator, Quebec Children Unit, Quebec Region, Population and Public Health Branch; Gary Ledoux, Regional Director, Manitoba/Saskatchewan Region, Population and Public Health Branch.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)(b) and 108(2), the Subcommittee resumed its study on aboriginal children from 0 to 6 years living off reserve.
Doug Norris, Kelly Stone, Suzette Jeannotte and Gary Ledoux made opening statements and, with Richard Budgell, answered questions.
At 5:04 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
