The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in a televised session at 3:16 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Judi Longfield, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, Libby Davies, John Finlay, Jim Gouk, Judi Longfield, Gurbax Malhi, Larry Spencer and Diane St-Jacques.
Acting Members present: Pierre Paquette for Monique Guay and Claude Duplain for Gurbax Malhi.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr, Research Officer.
Appearing: From the House of Commons: Hon. Jane Stewart, Minister of Human Resources Development.
Witnesses: From the Department of Human Resources Development: Wayne G. Wouters, Deputy Minister; Janet Milne, Assistant Deputy Minister, Financial and Administrative Services.
The Committee resumed consideration of its Order of Reference dated Wednesday, February 26, 2003, relating to the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2004.
The Committee resumed consideration of Votes 1 & 5 under Human Resources Development.
The Minister made a statement and answered questions.
At 5:04 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
