Meeting No. 11
Wednesday, November 20, 2002
The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met in camera at 3:47 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Bernard Patry, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Stéphane Bergeron, Aileen Carroll, Stockwell Day, John Duncan, The Hon. Art Eggleton, Mark Eyking, Marlene Jennings, Francine Lalonde, Pat O'Brien, Bernard Patry.
Acting Member present: Jason Kenney for Deepak Obhrai.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Peter Berg, Gerald Schmitz and Jay Sinha, Research Officers.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of North
American Integration and Canada's Role in the Light of New Security Challenges
(See Minutes of Proceedings of October 28, 2002, Meeting No. 2).
The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.
The Committee discussed its future business.
It was agreed, --That the Chair be authorized to modify the Committee schedule adopted on October 28, 2002 for the weeks of November 25 and December 2, 2002 to better accommodate availability of members.
It was agreed, --That the Committee engage the services of Mr. Louis Majeau to edit the French text of the report on North American Relations at a rate of $70.00 per hour to a maximum not to exceed $11,200.00.
It was agreed, --That the Committee engage the services of Paradigm Communications (Donald G. Reid, Associate) to edit the English text of the Committee’s report on North American Relations at a rate of $70.00 per hour to a maximum not to exceed $11,200.00.
It was agreed, --That the proposed budget in the amount of $87,816.00 for the Committee’s study on North American Relations be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the Budget Sub-committee of the Liaison Committee
It was agreed, --That the proposed operational budget of the Committee in the amount of $35,000.00 be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the budget Sub-committee of the Liaison Committee
It was agreed, --That the proposed budget in the amount of $31,200.00 for the Committee’s study respecting the situation of Iraq be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the Budget Sub-committee of the Liaison Committee
At 6:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
