The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 11:15 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Paul Steckle, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, Mark Eyking, Marcel Gagnon, John Maloney, Dick Proctor, Bob Speller, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.
Acting Member present: Yolande Thibault for Claude Duplain
Other Members present: Murray Calder and Kevin Sorenson.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Federation of Agriculture: Bob Friesen, President; Jennifer Fellows, Farm Policy Analyst; Bill Mailloux, 2nd Vice-President. From the Grain Growers of Canada: Ken Bee, President; Cam Dahl, Executive Director; Don Kenny, Director - Region 2.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of the Agricultural Policy Framework: the long-term effects of the new NISA (Net Income Stabilization Account).
Bob Friesen and Bill Mailloux from the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and Ken Bee from the Grain Growers of Canada made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 12:53 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
