Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Peterson (Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions)) for Mr. Martin (Minister of Finance), seconded by Mr. Gray (Deputy Prime Minister), Bill C-8, An Act to establish the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada and to amend certain Acts in relation to financial institutions, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Recommendation
(Pursuant to Standing Order 79(2))

Her Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled "An Act to establish the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada and to amend certain Acts in relation to financial institutions".

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Ms. McDonough (Halifax), seconded by Mr. Godin (Acadie -- Bathurst), Bill C-242, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (criminal liability of corporations, directors and officers), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Stoffer (Sackville -- Musquodoboit Valley -- Eastern Shore), seconded by Ms. Lill (Dartmouth), Bill C-243, An Act to provide for a Hepatitis Awareness Month, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Vellacott (Saskatoon -- Wanuskewin), seconded by Mr. Steckle (Huron -- Bruce), Bill C-246, An Act to amend the Criminal Code to prohibit coercion in medical procedures that offend a person's religion or belief that human life is inviolable, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Casson (Lethbridge), seconded by Mr. Johnston (Wetaskiwin), Bill C-247, An Act to amend the Criminal code (forfeiture of property relating to child pornography crimes), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.
