The Chairman (Mr. Derek Lee (Scarborough—Rouge River, Lib.)): I'm calling the meeting to order.

Colleagues, thanks to the fine work of our mother committee, the justice committee, they have pre-empted a part of our organizational business and installed me in the chair. If you wish to dissent from that, motions are receivable at 7 o'clock this evening at this place.

We just have a very few, very short procedural items we want to take care of. One of them is the election of vice-chairs, one from the opposition and one from the government side. I would receive motions on either of those.

Mr. Myers.

Mr. Lynn Myers (Waterloo—Wellington, Lib.): Well, Mr. Chairman, first of all, congratulations to you. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to actually vote on your election, but that's fine.

I nominate Mr. Wilfert as vice-chair.

The Chair: Are there any other nominations for that? No other nominations. Congratulations, Mr. Wilfert, you are now the vice-chair of the subcommittee.

On the second vice-chair, Mr. Toews.

Mr. Vic Toews (Provencher, Canadian Alliance): I nominate Mr. Sorenson.

The Chair: Mr. Sorenson. Are there any other nominations?

Mr. Sorenson is nodding. No other nominations. Congratulations, Mr. Sorenson, you also a vice-chair of the subcommittee.

Thank you, colleagues.

There's another motion there that will formally confirm that this meeting and the two subsequent meetings will be in camera. Mr. Myers moves this.

(Motion agreed to)

Thank you.

We have to formally adjourn and go in camera then. So seeing no other formal business, Mr. Myers moves adjournment, and we're now adjourned.
