Meeting No. 14

Thursday, May 30, 2002

The Sub-Committee on Private Members' Business of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Marcel Proulx, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Michel Guimond, Val Meredith and Marcel Proulx.

Acting Members present: Libby Davies for Bill Blaikie; Inky Mark for Rick Borotsik; Geoff Regan for Tony Tirabassi.

Other Member present: Grant McNally.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, research officer.

Witnesses: From the House of Commons: Judy Wasylycia-Leis; Maurice Vellacott; Maurice Vellacott for Myron Thompson; Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral for Caroline St-Hilaire; Gurmant Grewal; Brent St. Denis; John Cannis; Lorne Nystrom; Mauril Bélanger; Bev Desjarlais; Philip Mayfield and Rick Borotsik.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference from the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs adopted on Wednesday, February 7, 2001, the Sub-Committee proceeded to select votable items from bills and motions whose order of precedence has been established on Thursday, May 9, 2002, as well as items from previous draws.

 

The witnesses made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 5:27 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Sub-Committee proceeded to sit “In Camera” to select votable items.

 

At 6:00 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
