Wednesday, March 21, 2001
The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Mac Harb, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Bill Casey, Mark Eyking, Mac Harb, Gary Lunn, Pierre Paquette, Svend Robinson, Bob Speller, Tony Valeri.
Acting Member present: Joe Comuzzi for Pat O'Brien.
Other Members present: Bev Desjarlais, Charlie Penson, John Duncan, Dominic LeBlanc.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Peter Berg, Blayne Haggart.
Witnesses: From the Government Policy Consultants: Gerry Shannon, Senior Consultant. From the Canadian Lumber Trade Alliance: David Emerson, Co-Chairman. From the Industrial Wood and Allied Workers of Canada Union: David Haggard, President. From the Maritime Lumber Bureau: Diana Blenkhorn, President and CEO. From the Free Trade Lumber Council: The Honourable Bob Rae, Legal Counsel.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), a study on Softwood Lumber.
It was agreed, - That the Sub-Committee would add an additional hour to its meeting of Wednesday, March 28th to hear further witnesses on the issue of softwood lumber.
At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
