Meeting No. 24

Thursday, February 28, 2002

The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Mac Harb, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Mac Harb, Pat O’Brien and Svend Robinson.

Acting Members present: Bernard Bigras for Pierre Paquette, Ivan Grose for Tony Valeri.

Other Members Present: Bill Casey.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Michael Holden, Research Officer.

Witnesses: As an individual: Howard Mann, Consultant and Trade Lawyer. From the Sierra Club of Canada: Elizabeth May, Executive Director. From the International Institute for Sustainable Development: David Runnalls, President. From the Canadian Environment Industry Association: Rebecca Last, Director of Programs and Policy; Christopher Henderson, Past Chair, and CEO, The Delphi Group.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee resumed its study of an assessment of WTO negotiating issues from a Canadian perspective, (See Minutes of Proceedings of Wednesday, January 30, 2002, Meeting no. 17).

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 4:47 p.m., Svend Robinson assumed the Chair.

At 4:56 p.m., Mac Harb assumed the Chair.

At 5:10 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
