The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Mac Harb, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Rick Casson, Mark Eyking, Mac Harb, Pat O’Brien, Pierre Paquette, Bob Speller, and Tony Valeri.
Acting Members present: John Cannis for Mark Eyking, Roy Cullen for Bob Speller.
Other Members present: Bill Casey and John Duncan.

ORDERED, -- That Bill C-41, An Act to amend the Canadian Commercial Corporation Act be referred to the Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, November 22, 2001, Meeting No. 44).
The Chair called Clause 1.
Sara S. Hradecky and Enechete Onuoha made opening statements and, with the
other witnesses, answered questions.

Clause 5 be amended by replacing lines 2 to 4 on page 3 with the following:
“time shall not exceed $30 million.”

That Clause 4 be amended by adding after line 36 on page 2 the following:

subsection 10.(1) of the Act before paragraph (a) is replaced by the following:
10.(1) The Corporation may, while
complying with Canada’s international commitments, do such things as it deems
expedient for, or conducive to, the attainment of the purposes set out in
section 9, and, for greater certainty, but not so as to restrict the generality
of the foregoing, the Corporation may carry on the business of.”
