Wednesday, November 28, 2001
The Sub-Committee on Children and Youth at Risk of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:25 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, John Godfrey, presiding.
Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: John Godfrey, Monique Guay, Carol Skelton, Tony Tirabassi and Alan Tonks.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Julie Mackenzie, Research Officer.
Witness(es): From the Health Canada: Ian Potter, Assistant Deputy Minister, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch; Richard Budgell, Manager, Aboriginal Childhood and Youth, Population and Public Health Branch; Debra Gillis, Director, Health Program Support Division, Community Health Programs Directorate, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch; Nicole Lafrenière-Davis, Acting Director, Division of Childhood and Adolescence, Population and Public Health Branch.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and its Order of Reference from the
Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons
with Disabilities (See Minutes of Proceedings of March 01, 2001 – Meeting
No.06), the Sub-Committee resumed its study on the status of aboriginal
children living on and off reserves and on federal programs available to them (See
Minutes of Proceedings of November 7th, 2001 – Meeting No.10)
Ian Potter and Richard Budgell made a statement and with the other witnesses answered questions.
At 5:06 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
