The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Mac Harb, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, John Finlay, Mac Harb, Pat Martin and Beth Phinney.
Acting Members present: Marcel Gagnon for Gilles-A. Perron.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal and Jean Dupuis, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Sheila Fraser, Auditor General of Canada; Douglas Timmins, Assistant Auditor General; Neil Maxwell, Principal. From the Canadian Food Inspection Agency: Peter Brackenridge, Vice-President, Programs; Sarah Kahn, Director, Animal Health and Production Division; Greg Orriss, Director, Bureau of Food Safety and Consumer Protection; Gordon White, Executive Director, Financial Services.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee proceeded to consider Chapter 25 (Canadian Food Inspection Agency - Food Inspection Programs) of the December 2000 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
Sheila Fraser from the Office of the Auditor General of Canada made a statement.
Peter Brackenridge from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency made a statement.
Sheila Fraser, Peter Brackenridge, Greg Orriss, Sarah Kahn and Gordon White answered questions.
At 4:54 p.m., the Committee adjourned until 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2001.
