Tuesday, October 16, 2001
The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Acting Chair, Robert Bertrand, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, John Bryden, John Finlay, Sophia Leung and Alex Shepherd.
Acting Member present: Ken Epp for Rahim Jaffer.
Associate Member present: Ken Epp.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal and Jean Dupuis, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Maria Barrados, Assistant Auditor General; John Mayne, Principal, Audit Operations Branch. From the Treasury Board Secretariat: Roberta Santi, Associate Deputy Comptroller General; Lee McCormack, Executive Director, Results Management and Reporting; Judy Watling, Senior Director, Results-based Management.
The Clerk informed the Committee of the unavoidable absence of the Chair and Vice-Chairs.
Thereupon, Robert Bertrand was appointed Acting Chair of the Committee for the meeting.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee proceeded to consider Chapter 19 (Reporting Performance to Parliament: Progress Too Slow) of the December 2000 Report of the Auditor General of Canada and Chapter 20 (Managing Departments for Results and Managing Horizontal Issues for Results) of the December 2000 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
Maria Barrados from the Office of the Auditor General of Canada made a statement.
Roberta Santi from the Treasury Board Secretariat made a statement.
The witnesses answered questions.
At 5:06 p.m., the Committee adjourned until 3:30 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2001.
