The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Stéphane Bergeron, Claude Drouin, Walt Lastewka, Dan McTeague, Chuck Strahl, Joseph Volpe and Susan Whelan.

Other Member present: Tony Ianno.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Bank of Montreal: Tim J. O'Neill, Executive Vice-President and Chief Economist; Frank Techar, Executive Vice-President, Small Business Banking; Derral G. Moriyama, Senior Vice-President, Sales, Services and Market Segments, Small Business Banking. From Scotiabank: Susan Kennedy-Loewen, Vice-President, Small Business; Bob Funk, Vice-President, Agriculture; Ron Kester, Director of Financial Planning, Canadian Commercial Banking; Mary Webb, Senior Economist.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), consideration of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Bank Lending.

Frank Techar made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses from the Bank of Montreal, answered questions.

At 4:37 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:40 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Susan Kennedy-Loewen made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses from Scotiabank, answered questions.

At 5:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
