The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:26 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Diane St-Jacques, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Jeannot Castonguay, Georges Farrah, Raymonde Folco, Monique Guay, Val Meredith, Anita Neville, Carol Skelton, Diane St-Jacques and Alan Tonks.

Acting Member(s) present: Christiane Gagnon for Paul Crête and Yvon Godin for Libby Davies.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Bill Young, Research Officer.

Witness(es): From the Cultural Human Resources Council: Jean-Philippe Tabet, Executive Director. From the "Association des travailleurs et travailleuses d'usine - produits marins": Jeannine Paulin, President. From the "Réseaux des entreprises familiales": Irène Marais, President. From the Snow crab Industry Solidarity Fund: Gastien Godin, Representative.

Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Tuesday, February 13, 2001, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-2, An Act to amend the Employment Insurance Act and the Employment Insurance (Fishing) Regulations (See Minutes of Proceedings, Wednesday, February 21, 2001, Meeting No. 2).

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 5:15 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
