The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 11:12 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.
Member(s) of the Committee present: Peter Adams, Libby Davies, Georges Farrah, Monique Guay, Dale Johnston, Judi Longfield, Joe McGuire, Anita Neville, Diane St-Jacques and Alan Tonks.
Acting Member(s) present: Peter Goldring for Val Meredith.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr, Julie Mackenzie and Bill Young, Research Officers.
Appearing: From the Department of Human Resources Development Canada: Claudette Bradshaw, Minister of Labour.
Witness(es): From the Department of Human Resources Development Canada: Warren Edmondson, Assistant Deputy Minister, Labour; Susan Scotti, Assistant Deputy Minister, Homelessness; Guy Tremblay, Director General, Financial Services.
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of its Order of Reference from the House of Commons dated Tuesday, February 27th relating to the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2002 and, pursuant to Standing Order 81(7), its consideration of the Report on Plan & Priorities.
The Chairman called Votes 1, 5, 10 and 20 under Human Resources Development.
The Minister made a statement and with the other witnesses answered questions.
At 12:55 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
