The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:37 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Stan Dromisky, James Lunney, Hélène Scherrer, Judy Sgro, Yolande Thibeault, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

Acting Members present: Preston Manning for Diane Ablonczy, Pauline Picard for Diane Bourgeois.

Associate Members present: Preston Manning, Pauline Picard.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier and Sonya Norris, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From Indiana State University: David Prentice, PhD, Professor of Life Sciences. Via videoconference from Indianapolis: From the Indiana University Centre for Bioethics: Eric M. Meslin, PhD, Director. Via videoconference from Melbourne, Australia: From the University of Canterbury (New Zealand): Ken Daniels, Associate Professor, Department of Social Work.

The Committee resumed consideration of the draft legislation on Assisted Human Reproduction. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Thursday, May 3, 2001, Meeting No. 13.)

David Prentice made a statement and answered questions.

At 4:43 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 6:06 p.m., the sitting was resumed.

Eric Meslin made a statement and answered questions via videoconference from Indianapolis.

At 7:01 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 7:07 p.m., the sitting was resumed.

Ken Daniels made a statement and answered questions via videoconference from Melbourne, Australia.

At 7:53 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
