The Standing Committee on Health met at 11:12 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Raymond Bonin, Jeannot Castonguay, Yvon Charbonneau, Stan Dromisky, Réal Ménard, Rob Merrifield, Stephen Owen, Hélène Scherrer, Judy Sgro, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

Acting Member present: Preston Manning for Diane Ablonczy

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier and Sonya Norris, research officers.

Witnesses: From the Health Canada Advisory Committee on the Interim Moratorium on Reproductive Technologies: Dr. Jeffrey Nisker, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Coordinator of Bioethics, Faculty of Medicine, University of Western Ontario, London; Madeline Boscoe, Executive Coordinator, The Canadian Women's Health Network, Women's Health Clinic, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The Committee resumed consideration of the draft legislation on Assisted Human Reproduction. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Thursday, May 3, 2001, Meeting No. 13).

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 1:12 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
