The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Carolyn Bennett, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Scott Brison, Roy Cullen, Rahim Jaffer, Jason Kenney, Lorne Nystrom.

Acting Members present: Tony Tirabassi for Gary Pillitteri.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Marion Wrobel, Senior Analyst.

Witnesses: From the Partnership Group in Science and Engineering: David Kenny, Chair; Dr. Howard Alper, Past Chair. From the Environmental Science and Technology Alliance Canada: A.R. Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee continued its study on Pre-Budget Consultations.

David Kenney, A.R. McDowell, Jack Pasternak, Charlie Pielsticker, Malcolm Hamilton, John Eckert, John Bradlow, David J. McGuinty and Dr. Stuart Smith made opening statements and, with the other witness, answered questions.

At 4:50 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:00 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Vangelis Nikias, Linda Manyguns, Al Hatton, Yves Savoie, Kenneth Kyle, Carolyn Brooks, Dr. Barry D. McLennan, Linda McKerracher and David Hill made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 6:25 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
