The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 6:15 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Carolyn Bennett, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Roger Gallaway, Jason Kenney and Sophia Leung.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Marc-André Pigeon, Researcher.
Witnesses: From Canadian Construction Association: Michael Atkinson, President; Jeff Morrison, Director of Communications. From Canadian Steel Producers' Association: Barry Lacombe, President; Donald K. Belch, Director, Government Relations. From Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers' Association: David C. Adams, Vice-President of Policy. From Mining Association of Canada: Dan Paszkowski, Vice-President, Economic Affairs.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to hear Canadian Business Leaders on the state of the Canadian economy.
Michael Atkinson, Jeff Morrison, Barry Lacombe, Donald Belch, David Adams and Dan Paszkowski made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 7:45 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
