The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 2:00 p.m. this day, in Toronto at the Ramada Plaza Hotel Toronto Airport East, 1677 Wilson Ave, in Lady Hamilton Room, the Chair, Joe Fontana, presiding

Members of the Committee present: Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Joe Fontana, John Herron, Inky Mark, John McCallum, Anita Neville, Yolande Thibeault, Judy Wasylycia-Leis, Lynne Yelich.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jay Sinha, Researcher.

Witnesses: From the Windsor Refugee Office: Helen Petrimoulx. From the National Association of Career Colleges: Paul Kitchin, Executive Director. From the Neighbourhood Legal Services: Marnie Hayes, Community Legal Worker. From the Toronto Refugee Affairs Council: Fred Franklin, Member. From the As Individual: Devashish Wadke.

Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Tuesday, February 27, 2001, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-11, An Act respecting immigration to Canada and the granting of refugee protection to persons who are displaced, persecuted or in danger (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, March 1st, 2001, Meeting No. 2).

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 3:15 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
