Meeting No. 10

Tuesday, April 3, 2001

The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Charles Hubbard, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, Rick Borotsik, Murray Calder, Claude Duplain, Mark Eyking, Howard Hilstrom, Charles Hubbard, Rick Laliberte, Larry McCormick, Dick Proctor, Bob Speller, Suzanne Tremblay.

Acting Member present: Kevin Sorenson for Garry Breitkreuz.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge and Jean-Denis Fréchette, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Wheat Board: Ken Ritter, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Larry Hill, Director, District 3; Ian McCreary, Director, District 6; Micheal Halyk, Director, District 7.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Various issues regarding the Marketing of Wheat and Barley by the Canadian Wheat Board.

Mr. Ken Ritter made an opening statement and, with other witnesses, answered questions.

Larry McCormick moved, -- That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be authorized to travel to Quebec City during the Summit of the Americas from April 20-22, 2001 in order to meet with the Members of the Committee on Agriculture of the United States House of Representatives and, -- That the Chair be authorized to seek the House's permission to travel and the appropriate funds.

The question was put on the motion and it was, by a show of hands, agreed to: YEAS: 6; NAYS: 0.

At 10:57 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
