Wednesday, October 4, 2000
The Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block for the purpose of electing a Chairman.
Members of the Committee present: Antoine Dubé, Marlene Jennings, Jim Jones, Walt Lastewka, Eric Lowther, Ian Murray, Charlie Penson, Jerry Pickard, Nelson Riis, Paddy Torsney, Susan Whelan.
Acting Members present: Michel Bellehumeur for Pierre Brien, Eleni Bakopanos for Gerry Byrne and John Richardson for John Cannis.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Geoffrey Kieley, Research Officer.
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(1) and (2), the Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Chair.
On motion of Walt Lastewka, seconded by Marlene Jennings, it was agreed, - That Susan Whelan do take the Chair.
Susan Whelan took the Chair.
On motion of Eric Lowther, seconded by John Richardson, it was agreed, - That Charlie Penson be elected as Vice-Chair of the Committee.
On motion of Paddy Torsney, seconded by Marlene Jennings, it was agreed, - That Walt Lastewka be elected as Vice-Chair of the Committee.
On motion of Paddy Torsney, it was agreed, - That this Committee do now adjourn.
At 3:38 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
