MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 38

Thursday, October 5, 2000

The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, for the purpose of electing a Chair pursuant to Standing Order 106(1) and (2).

Member(s) of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Peter Adams, Mauril Bélanger, Paul Crête, Libby Davies, Jean Dubé, Raymonde Folco, Bill Gilmour, John Godfrey, Judi Longfield, Gurbax Malhi, Diane St-Jacques and Bryon Wilfert.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr, Julie MacKenzie and Bill Young, Research Officers.

The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Chair.

On motion of Diane St-Jacques, it was agreed, - That Peter Adams do take the Chair of the Committee.

Accordingly, Peter Adams was duly elected Chair of the Committee and took the Chair.

On motion of Mauril Bélanger, it was agreed, - That Bryon Wilfert be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.

On motion of Bill Gilmour, it was agreed, - That Maurice Vellacott be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.

On motion of Paul Crête, it was agreed that the Committee do now adjourn.

At 11:10 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
