Tuesday, December 14, 1999
The Standing Committee on Health met at 9:22 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Lynn Myers, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Yvon Charbonneau, Reed Elley, Ovid Jackson, Keith Martin, Bill Matthews, Réal Ménard, Lynn Myers, Bernard Patry, Paul Szabo, Rose-Marie Ur, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.
Acting Members present: Carmen Provenzano for Rose-Marie Ur, Sarkis Assadourian for Bill Matthews, Pierre De Savoye for Christiane Gagnon, Sue Barnes for Ted McWhinney.

Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Monday, November 29, 1999, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-13, An Act to establish the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, to repeal the Medical Research Council Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, December 2, 1999 , Meeting No. 8).
The Committee resumed clause by clause consideration of the bill.
The witnesses answered questions.
On Clause 4
By unanimous consent, the committee reverted to the amendment of Keith Martin, -- That Bill C-13 in Clause 4, line 1, page 5 be amended by replacing the word "the" with "some".
